B&J Motors opened its doors in 1961. Founded by Bill Zumwalt, Jack White, and Bud Tracy, B&J was originally located on Folsom Blvd. just east of Sunrise Blvd. By 1963 the business had outgrown that location and moved to its current location at the corner of Folsom Blvd. and Kilgore Rd. In 1973 B&J Motors was purchased by Buzz Chamblis, and then by Frank Andrews Jr. in 1975. As the new owner, Frank hired Rick Johnson as General Manager and Steve Messner as Body Shop Manager. In 1980 Rick and Steve purchased B&J Motors from Frank Andrews and at the same time incorporated the business as B&J Body Shop, Inc.
Rick and Steve built the business on the principles of outstanding service, best-in-industry quality repairs, and fair prices all performed and provided by quality employees. While under the ownership of Rick and Steve, B&J Body Shop became actively involved in the Rancho Cordova community. In 1986 Rick and Steve hired Dan Charlebois. Dan was hired as a tow truck driver, but quickly proved himself to be a highly capable employee and in 1996 Dan became a business partner with Rick and Steve. In 1990, Mike Passof joined the B&J team. Mike also proved to be a valuable employee who shared the vision of Rick, Steve, and Dan. By 1999 Mike had become the Body Shop Manager. A new state-of-the-art paint shop was added in 1998 to accommodate the growing business and to allow B&J to provide services to even more customers.
Dan and Mike purchased the business from Rick and Steve in 2009. Dan and Mike continue to operate with the same values that Rick and Steve instilled in B&J Body Shop. Today, B&J Body Shop continues to provide high-quality service and workmanship while maintaining a positive presence in the Rancho Cordova community. B&J Body Shop is also committed to training a new generation who will carry on the tradition of quality and service for future years.

Returning your wrecked vehicle to pre-accident condition is a complex process. B&J Body Shop specializes in making that process as seamless and transparent to our customers as possible. Our goal is to write your estimate and handle your claims and repair process as efficiently as possible. We work directly with AAA, Farmers, Nationwide, and The Hartford. This means that we are approved to write and upload estimates and photos to these carriers which allows for a much more streamlined claim authorization process. If you are covered by other carriers or choose to pay for your repairs “out of pocket” please let us know; we work with all insurance companies and third parties. B&J provides a full-service collision repair; including bodywork, frame alignment, paintwork, glass and stereo replacement, suspension alignment, and much more.

The repair process at B&J begins with our estimating staff with over 40 years of experience. The estimators are trained on the CCC estimating system. This system is able to transmit digital photos and estimates to those who require them. All of our employees have been trained and certified through the industry’s leading certifier, I-CAR; allowing B&J Body Shop to hold the prestigious “I-CAR Gold Certification”.

Our certified collision repair technicians perform the highly technical repairs to the specifications required by the specific manufacturer of each brand and model that we work on. We work on all makes and models of vehicles. We have recently updated our structural measuring and pulling equipment to work more precisely with today’s technologically advanced vehicles. Both unibody and full-framed vehicles can be measured and pulled into alignment with our industry-leading equipment made by Car-O-Liner.

Once the body repairs are completed, the repair areas are then refinished with Sherwin Williams’ Ultra 9K Waterbourne paint system. This paint system allows our trained and certified refinish technicians to perfectly match the paint color and finish of the two, three, and four-stage coatings of today’s vehicles. Numerous tools including the iFex Spectrophotometer are used to assist the technicians in custom mixing each color for each vehicle. All our refinish technicians are certified by Sherwin Williams to allow each vehicle we paint to carry a warranty on that work for as long as you own your car.
05
Once the repairs are refinished and the vehicle is reassembled, our detail department meticulously washes your car inside and out to ensure that we leave no signs behind that we have worked in and around your car. Although throughout the entire repair process there are multiple checkpoints confirming the highest quality of repairs, the detail department, and production manager closely review the repairs and run multiple systems checks to prevent the need to return for any follow-up issues.

Once the vehicle is completed, it will be returned to you repaired, refinished, and detailed. Our Estimators will review the entire repair process and show you around your beautifully restored vehicle before sending you on your way.
